The Book People has rapidly grown to become an award-winning bookseller, bringing discount books to customers across the UK and Republic of Ireland through a network of distributors, mail order catalogues and an online ecommerce website.
As The Book People’s website quickly expanded to adapt to an evolving sales platform, it identified a need to upgrade its infrastructure: protecting data, improving connectivity between offices and enhancing its hosting platform.
The Book People had been working with Talk Internet for over 15 years, and asked them for a robust and cost-effective solution to help their business grow even further.
Talk Internet came up with a range of methods, providing co-location services to keep The Book People’s hardware and software in a secure off-site location and its data permanently backed up. In addition, it connected their offices with super-fast IP transit and VLAN segregation, allowing for data replication.
In short, its essential data is stored offsite and sent between offices and updated throughout the day to ensure it can never be lost, with multisite connectivity back to the hosting platform. This is part of an ongoing project to develop a complete disaster recovery solution.
Talk Internet has also developed a solution allowing home workers to work in tandem with its call centre, as required. Using the latest technology, remote employees can seamlessly become part of The Book People’s dedicated contact centre.
John Ainsworth from The Book People is delighted with the way the Talk Internet “take the time to sit down and discuss our needs to find a solution together.”
He continued, “What sets Talk Internet apart is their flexibility. Working with their friendly team means that we’re not limited to standard solutions.”
“Talk Internet’s services are never ‘off the shelf’. What really stands out is that we’re not stuck with standard products or services. Other companies would simply not be able to tailor a solution in the way that Talk Internet does.”
